Andrea Hagen practices general corporate commercial law with an emphasis on corporate structuring and governance, capital raises, private and institutional lending, and transactional work such as acquisitions and financings.
Since her call to the Bar in 2011, Andrea has had the opportunity to work on a broad array of client matters. Andrea has been involved with structuring numerous corporations and partnerships, including private equity funds, flow-through limited partnerships, eligible business corporations, and professional corporations. She regularly assists clients with major transactions, ranging from acquisitions and sales of businesses to equity investments to secured loans.
Andrea also enjoys working with start-up companies and new ventures on organization, business planning, and operational issues. She has worked with clients in a variety of industries, from software companies to wineries to manufacturing businesses and is dedicated to developing her knowledge of different business models to improve her ability to provide practical, efficient solutions to her clients’ legal issues.
Background
Following the completion of her undergraduate studies at the University of Victoria, Andrea obtained an entrance scholarship and began law school at McGill University in Montreal. She later transferred and completed her law degree at the University of Victoria in 2010.
Andrea has strong research and drafting skills thanks to her experience as a research assistant at the British Columbia Law Institute and Canadian Centre for Elder Law, where she was involved in various law reform and elder law research projects. In 2010, Andrea moved to the Okanagan to complete her articles, during which time she developed an interest in corporate commercial work. Andrea initially practiced at a boutique corporate commercial firm in Kelowna prior to founding Quantum Law with Sylvia Lee in early 2012.
In 2012, Andrea moved back to the Vancouver area and continues to serve clients in both the Okanagan and Vancouver from this location.
